TASHJIAN BEE & POLLINATOR DISCOVERY CENTER

The newest addition to the Arboretum's growing number of destinations, the Tashjian Bee & Pollinator Discovery Center is the perfect place for kids to explore and learn about these valuable insects. Look through a large glass panel to see live hives at work. Featuring state-of-the art equipment and displays, including interactive iPads and video stations, the Bee Center teaches with tools that kids love! A large shelter will also serve as an outdoor classroom space in the near future. Look for Eastern Drive signage just past the hedges collection on Three-Mile Drive.

MAZE GARDEN AND MAZE GARDEN JR.

Kids can literally run wild, as well as lose themselves, in the Arb's huge Maze Garden. It's a great place for them to burn off that excess energy! Parents are often seen standing atop the two-story tower, at the ready in case directions are needed. Toddlers and younger kids can enjoy their own version without being too overwhelmed in the Maze Garden Jr.

COMMUNITY BUILDS

Summers at the Arb offer several Saturday Community Build dates
each year, with themes that mirror content from summer exhibitions. From building LEGO Brick sculptures in 2015, to making YOXO Big Bug and Savage Plant replicas in 2016, to this year's "Design a Mini Tree House", kids can summon their creative and artistic talents while immersing themselves in projects of their own design. See Saturday dates and times for this year's community builds here.

GREEN PLAY YARD

Located next to the Marion Andrus Learning Center, the Green Play Yard is both a wonderful play destination for young families and a rich "idea place" for preschools, childcares and family backyards. Its plantings and natural play features show how to bring 'nearby nature' to daily life for our youngest ones, at an age when they are growing and changing quickly and the impact is significant. It's natural fun especially designed for ages five and under!
