Let trees offer inspiration as you make a tiny tree house perfect for fairies, elves, and pixies! Nature will provide the building materials - cones, acorns, bark, leaves, and twigs. Let the Arboretum team help you discover your creative spirit and make a mini masterpiece to take home with you. While you're at it, get advice on which tree would best suit your yard, and learn how to help it thrive.

The Plant-Maker Studio offers "make a plant" experiences for all ages. Our technology-loaded lives can leave anyone eager to dig into nature and get their hands on plants. Studio activities, staffed by trained volunteers, will help you discover how to create colorful, non-toxic, natural dyes from trees and flowers! Mix and play with plant pigments as you dip and dye fiber. Use branches to form a natural loom and weave your own colorful, take-home memento embellished with flowers, grasses, and leaves.

Cattail Creations

ALL AGES

The Plant-maker Studio offers unique "nature craft" experiences for all ages! Cattail leaves are strong, flexible, and can be transformed into a variety of creative art projects. Try your hand at twisting and rolling your own cattail cordage from fibrous cattail leaves. Weave cattail leaves into a community cattail mat. Look closely at fluffy-seeded cattails and find out what special adaptations they have for surviving in standing water.

Winter Wonderland

The Plant-maker Studio offers unique "nature craft" experiences for all ages! Enjoy the frozen beauty of colorful winter berries, bare branches, evergreens, snow, and ice in the Arboretum's winter landscape. Look for the hardy non-migratory birds that remain in Minnesota all winter long. Discover which plants you can grow to provide winter food and shelter for wildlife. Create a nourishing natural seed ornament to feed the birds outside your window.

The Plant-maker Studio offers unique "make with plants" experiences for all ages! Refresh your senses and bolster your immune system with basil, the aromatic, antiviral, king of herbs. Sample a flavorful basil recipe and gather ideas for how to use basil in your kitchen. Create, decorate, and plant a pot of basil to take home and enjoy.

Cancellation Policy
Registration cancellations must be made two weeks prior to class date in order to receive refund. A $5 processing fee will apply.
