First Snowfall (Updated Oct. 31)

Colder temperatures this week, including a first frost and the arrival of some light snow have dramatically changed the look of the landscape. Squirrels and chipmunks scurry about, storing food for the coming season. Large flocks of migratory birds can be seen in the skies as they follow open water to their winter destinations. The Arboretum grounds crews are working indoors and out to transition from the decorative fall displays and scarecrows that have delighted and entertained visitors for the last six weeks. Holiday displays are beginning to be seen, ushering in the season of Making Spirits Bright for 2017.
