Let's "Bee" Helpful Together! - Intergenerational Together Time (200-07-08-17)
Saturday, July 8, 10 a.m. - noon
Elaine Evans, Ph.D., University of Minnesota Bee Squad

Suggested Age: 7 to 12, with an adult
Unnoticed by many, tiny buzzing visitors shape our world by pollinating flowers. These are not just honey bees and bumble bees; there are over 400 species of bees in our state! Solve the mystery of where these bees live and how to find them in the wild... perhaps you will be the next to find the most elusive Minnesota species. Together, you and your child (age 7-12) will build and take home a nest for tunnel-nesting bees, learn how to help all bees by creating bee-friendly habitat, and explore the pollinator gardens on a Bee Safari. You both will leave with the enthusiasm to learn more about these important insects, and the skills to find them in your own backyard.
Limit 20 pairs, Bee Center

Let's Build Together! - Intergenerational Together Time (200-08-05-17)
Saturday, August 5, 10 a.m. - noon
Leonardo's Basement Instructors whose vision is to "Help people build their imaginations so that they can reinvent the world"

Suggested Age: 7 to 12, with an adult
We're excited to partner with Leonardo's Basement, a Minneapolis-based one-of-a-kind creative learning environment where "kids" of all ages design and build from their imagination. In this unique class, child/adult pairs will work together to become architects and a construction crew, dreaming up and building fabulous tiny treehouses! Nature provides the raw materials; twigs, bark, moss, grass, wood, and stones. The vision becomes a reality through the use of drills, hot glue and other tools. Don't forget to add some personal favorites like rope ladders, slides and bunk beds, to put the finishing touches on a creative morning together.
Limit 16 pairs, Learning Center
