A great introduction to day camp—full of variety, fun, and nature-play: meet new friends, explore the Arboretum, look for tadpoles, and play in the mud! Discover the magical fairies that protect our plants, and use bits of nature, imagination, and engineering to build them a special gift in the woods. Each day will include a short circle time, a snack, a planting project, a themed activity or two, and time for nature-play. Hunt for butterflies outside in the gardens AND in our new butterfly house! Think like a pollinator, looking at the shape and color of petals to decide if it is an “open-house” flower or a “by-invitation-only” flower. Plant take-home gardens for “butterfly babies,” “nectar lovers,” and “pollen lovers” too! Jump into summer with all of your senses! Play, build and paint with mud. Mash-up plant parts with water to make paper and even use water to make music. Harvest, eat, and plant the world’s most famous water-loving plant. Then enjoy the sun’s powers to make food-- inside a leaf to feed the plant and inside a solar cooker to feed you! You are the creative director, deciding whether to make a science documentary, a natural comedy, or simply a beautiful work of art. Select your favorite works to show to family and friends at the GIF gallery on the last day! Requirements: a digital camera with an SD memory card and a laptop.
