Saturday, May 27, 10 a.m. - noon
Laura Vogel, Arboretum Education Staff

Suggested Age: 7 to 12, with an adult
The best way to "grow" a child's appetite for vegetables is to involve them in the garden-to-table process! At the beginning of the growing season, spend some time in the kitchen discovering new, delicious and fun ways to enjoy the season together. You and your child will begin with basic kitchen skills such as measuring, using a knife, and following a recipe, and will cook your way through a tasty, multi-course snack feast. Laura will share tidbits on nutrition, botany and growing your own food while guiding this hands-on program. You will leave with samples to share at home, recipes, a greater appreciation for vegetables, and an extra portion of fun together-time!

Solve the mystery of where these bees live and how to find them in the wild... perhaps you will be the next to find the most elusive Minnesota species. Together, you and your child (age 7-12) will build and take home a nest for tunnel-nesting bees, learn how to help all bees by creating bee-friendly habitat, and explore the pollinator gardens on a Bee Safari. You both will leave with the enthusiasm to learn more about these important insects, and the skills to find them in your own backyard.
